BIOGRAPHY
Pastor, husband, father, grandfather, humanitarian, broadcaster… the ministry of J. E. Moore reaches far and beyond the boundaries of normal ministers touching the lives of those in his church, community and around the country.
Bishop J. E. Moore was born in Galena, Kansas, May 24, 1939. After graduating from Galena High School, he moved to Joliet (1958) and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving with the Military Police and playing in the Drum and Bugle Corps. He graduated from the Field of Music School, and received an honorable discharge February 26, 1961.
In April of 1961, Bishop Moore was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost at 800 Princeton Ave. Lockport, Illinois under the late Bishop William Elsie. On October 8, of 1965, Dr. Dennis Rayford Bell founded Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church in his office and placed J. E. Moore as pastor.
With this new found responsibility, he went on a fervent study, graduating with a BA from Berean Christian College, BA from Governors State University, MA from Moody Bible College Institute, Th. M from Trinity Theological Seminary, Ph. D from the International Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry from the American Seminary. Under his leadership, Christ Temple has grown tremendously!
Bishop Moore has served the people of God in many ways throughout his many years of ministry. J.E. was ordained with ministerial (Elder) credentials July 1967, appointed to District Elder March 1973 and in March 1994 he was appropriated as a Bishop within the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. (PCAF). After serving two terms as the Assistant Presiding Bishop, under the leadership of Bishop Alfred Singleton, Bishop Moore was elevated and consecrated to the office of Presiding Bishop July 2008 becoming “a pastor of pastors”. He served two terms as Presiding Bishop of the PCAF, Inc.
In addition, this dynamic preacher and teacher is known for serving in various other capacities within the PCAF: Convention Manager, managing the Annual and Bi-annual meetings of the National Conventions, Treasurer for the D.R. Bell Apostolic Bible College (BABC) in the Chicago area and currently Professor of Hermeneutics & Greek at BABC Joliet satellite campus. He has also taught Homiletics, Theology, Christian Psychology, and Church Administration.
As a community leader, he has served the Joliet area as a Board Member for Big Brothers & YMCA, an Advisory Board Member for the Joliet School District 86 & Will County, and served on the selection committee for a circuit judge. Currently, he serves the Unity Community Development Center as a board member.
Bishop Moore and his wife Tecola continue to enjoy over 50 years of marriage and have five beautiful children and eight grandchildren. He gives honor and praises to the Lord Jesus Christ for the privileges of salvation and service.
